Romania
|
In Romania, off road competitions are organized by 15 years and about 3 years the off road as a sport become a discipline to the FRAS (Romanian Federation of Motor Sports).
It all began in 1995 with first edition of Carpat Trophy, race that was organized until 2002, in final years in parallel with the National Off Road Championship of Romania.
But from 2001 another race appeared to keep up the flag of Romanian xtrem off road: Transilvania Adventure Trophy (TAT), perhaps the most famous race in Romania at this time. TAT has gathered at the start in 2010 over 140 cars from the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, Slovenia Slovakia, Finland, Hungary and, of course, Romania. TAT race traditionally takes a week and is considered one of the toughest off road races in the world.
Currently, the National Off Road Championship of Romania consists of 8 stages covering all areas of the country. Besides those stages are organized many other cups and local trials, the total number of contests reaching at 23 in 2011.
Due to its mountains, forests and water range, Romania still preserves the pure nature aspects and wildlife. Carpathian Mountains are the largest intact ecosystem of its kind in Europe. Within this range are innumerable places of natural beauty: mountain peaks, gorges, lakes, forests, caves, mud volcanoes and fossil deposits.
